Waiting on Wednesday (June 3)

June 3rd, 2009

Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill over at Breaking the Spine that spotlights upcoming releases that we’re eagerly anticipating.

I’ve got a couple from series that I read…

The first is Skin Trade by Laurell K. Hamilton. This was released June 2 by Berkley. I’ve been following the Anita Blake series from the beginning so of course this is already on my wishlist. Here’s a bit about it from Amazon.com…

A proven series with a hot new look. The #1 bestselling author returns with her most anticipated novel yet. When a vampire serial killer sends Anita Blake a grisly souvenir from Las Vegas, she has to warn Sin City’s local authorities what they’re dealing with. Only it’s worse than she thought. Ten officers and one executioner have been slain – paranormal style. Anita heads to Vegas, where’s she’s joined by three other federal marshals, including the ruthless Edward. It’s a good thing he always has her back, because when she gets close to the bodies, Anita senses ‘tiger’ too strongly to ignore it. The weretigers are very powerful in Las Vegas, which means the odds of her rubbing someone important the wrong way just got a lot higher.

The next is Killer by Sara Shepard to be released on June 30 by Harper Collins. I started this series on a whim and got hooked. It’s a YA series and I’ve really enjoyed it. This is the eighth book already and I’m sure looking forward to reading it. Here’s a bit about it from Harper Collins…

In picture-perfect Rosewood, Pennsylvania, ash-blond highlights gleam in the winter sun and frozen lakes sparkle like Swarovski crystals. But pictures often lie—and so do Rosewood’s four prettiest girls.

Hanna, Aria, Spencer, and Emily have been lying ever since they became friends with beautiful Alison DiLaurentis. Ali made them do terrible things—things they had to keep secret for years. And even though Ali was killed at the end of seventh grade, their bad-girl ways didn’t die with her.

Hanna’s on a mission to corrupt Rosewood’s youth, starting with a very attractive sophomore. Aria’s snooping into her boyfriend’s past. Spencer’s stealing—from her family. And pure little Emily’s abstaining from abstinence.

The girls should be careful, though. They thought they were safe when Ali’s killer was arrested and A’s true identity was finally revealed. But now there’s a new A in town turning up the heat. And this time Rosewood is going to burn.

My last one for today is Undead and Unwelcome by MaryJanice Davidson. It was released June 2 by Berkley. Here’s a bit about it from Amazon.com…

Betsy Taylor has problems that only a vampire queen/suburban wife could possibly understand. Such as taking the body of her werewolf friend Antonia—who died in her service—to Cape Cod, where she’s not sure if the Wyndham werewolves will welcome her with fangs or friendship. Meanwhile, her posse back in St. Paul is sending frantic e-mails alerting Betsy to her half-sister’s increasingly erratic behavior. Looks like the devil’s daughter is coming into her own—and raising hell.

So, it’s all about series today. I love series because it’s so fun to go back to the characters I already know and love and see what they’re up to. So what about you, what are you waiting on?

I have fallen behind in both the Undead series by Davidson and Hamilton's Blake series. How did that happen? I used to be so good about staying on top of them. Thanks for the reminder that I need to be on the lookout for them!

Diane, this one is a whole series and it's so good.

Joanne, me to on the LKH books. I agree on Anita returning more to how she used to be in the beginning. You know I was the same with Shepard's books. I had picked it up at the library, started it and was hooked. They've turned out to be soooo good. Betsy-that's why I read them. They make me laugh and that never hurts.
