Cover Attraction (July 29)

July 29th, 2009

Cover Attraction is hosted by Marcia at The Printed Page. This is what she has to say, ‘I’m a very visual person and love beautiful, or interesting, cover art. It entices, and invites, me to stop and take a peek instead of walking right on by.’

Me too! My cover attraction this week is a book called Wake by Robert J Sawyer. It is apparently the first book in the WWW Series and along with a great cover it sounds really good too. This book was released on April 7, 2009 by Ace. Here’s a bit about it from Fantastic Fiction…

‘One of the foremost science fiction writers of our generation’ (SF Site) comes to Ace with a trilogy of the Web’s awakening.

Caitlin Decter is young, pretty, feisty, a genius at math – and blind. Still, she can surf the net with the best of them, following its complex paths clearly in her mind. But Caitlin’s brain long ago co-opted her primary visual cortex to help her navigate online. So when she receives an implant to restore her sight, instead of seeing reality, the landscape of the World Wide Web explodes into her consciousness, spreading out all around her in a riot of colors and shapes. While exploring this amazing realm, she discovers something – some other – lurking in the background. And it’s getting more and more intelligent with each passing day.

I wouldn’t mind reading it but I most definitely love the cover. I think the use of color is amazing and it just makes me feel like I’m floating. What about you? What cover caught your attention this week? Share in the comments or leave me your link.

Very nice, it kind of reminds me of early evening sun on a lily pond, the way it shimmers and distorts like a kaliedoscope when you squint your eyes. Reading the synopsis for the book gives it an entirely different feel … a network of connections.

The cover is beautiful … I didn't see the face the first time I looked at it, just a flowery image.

Reading the description, I'd probably pass on the book, but the cover did pull me in closer!
