Teaser Tuesdays (Oct 6)

October 6th, 2009

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

  • Grab your current read
  • Open to a random page
  • Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
  • BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
  • Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

My teasers today come from God is an Englishman by R.F. Delderfield…

  • ‘”Hold your tongue and listen to me! I’m not interested in the reasons that prompted you to run away from home and attach yourself to this freebooting nephew of mine, but from now on you’ll do what I say and my first instructions are that you shall take a hot bath, eat a Christian meal at a table, and go to bed while we decide what’s to be done with you.”‘ (pg 86)

I’m enjoying this book; it’s a chunkster though so it’s taking me a while as I don’t always have a lot of time to sit and read these days. So, how about you? Any good teasers from what you’re reading this week? Share in the comments or leave a link to your post.

Speaking of chunksters…I haven't even read 1 yet for the chunkster challenge. Better get a move on!!

  2. Sandy Nawrot says:

That is the thing about chunksters. They are a usually a wonderful experience, but often I shy away from them because it makes me feel unproductive on my blog. How sad is that?

  3. jlshall says:

Nice teaser. Haven't read anything by Delderfield in years. My favorite was always To Serve Them All My Days, which was also quite a chunkster.

  4. Book Bird Dog says:

Is that title a tongue in cheek saying? I'm curious. Here's my Teaser

I have many chunksters on my shelves that I need to get busy on. (Interesting teaser Dar) Enjoy

    This one sounds good.

As the one I am currently reading is for my Bait in the box, I can´t really reveal anything but the fact that it is really exciting. (One of those books where you are hooked after page one).

  7. Missy says:

The book that my teaser is from today I started reading last night. I am almost done with it – it is so good. It's only 250 pages, though. I have a couple of chunksters in my tbr pile I've been avoiding. :)

Although I tend to shy away from chunksters, this is one I think I'd like to tackle. I'll look forward toyour thoughts once you've finished reading it. Take care, Dar!

I'm in the middle of a chunkster, too. The Woman in White is great, but it's taking me forever to read…just haven't had enough time lately. I like your teaser!

Oh he sounds like a tough person!
    How much of a chunkster?
Books over a certain amount of pages are tough for me too :)

This sounds like a good book. I would love for someone to force me to take a bath, eat a meal and then go to bed! Great teaser.

I've a few chunksters in my pile and they've been sitting there for a long time! I guess I should get over the fear of them and start reading them soon, LOL.

  16. Alice Teh says:

What a command! I'm quite intimidated by chunksters but have a few of that in my TBR.

Love this teaser! I must find out more about this book and put it on my to-read list.

  19. Wanda says:

Interesting teaser, I wonder if the person being spoken to/yelled at is a bit on the wild side or just really unlucky. What a pompous title! lol

  20. Staci says:

Very demanding huh? I didn't know meals were Christian!! LOL!!

  21. Literary Feline says:

That does sound interesting, Dar! I really like the cover too. I look forward to hearing what you think of it.
