Update on Read-a-Thon/Other Stuff

October 27th, 2009

Hey everyone, sorry I didn’t manage to post an update on my Read-a-thon results but Buddy hasn’t been feeling all that good again so I didn’t make it on the computer. I’m just posting an old pic of him that I had on the computer.

Anyhow, I was having such a hard time concentrating on Saturday that I only managed to read 1 book and a total of 459 pages. That’s ok though because I had fun. I did do a miserable job of visiting blogs so I apologize for that. I think in April I’m going to cheerlead instead and read in between. I think that may work much better for me as I can’t seem to coordinate both at the same time. Before I forget again, thanks so much to my friend Trish for always stopping by with words of encouragement and to all the fantastic cheerleaders as well!

Now I’m just finishing up Pendragon’s Banner Book 2 by Helen Hollick for my review on Thursday and I just have to say that this installment is very good. I’m really enjoying it and I’m already thinking about what might happen in the final book of the trilogy. I’ll also have a guest post from Helen on Friday so keep a look out for that as well.

Keep an eye out tomorrow for a guest post from Michael Baron, author of When You Went Away.

For now I’m going to cuddle up on the couch with the dog and keep an eye on the very gloomy, cold, wet and windy day we’re having here. They’re calling for pretty cold temps for Halloween though which isn’t good for all the little kids going around which reminds me I have to fill the goodie bags.

Hope you all have a good week! Anybody have anything exciting going on?

Well Buddy sure looks like a happy dog, but I'm sorry that he hasn't been feeling well. I know I couldn't do the readathon so I didn't even try. I'm glad that you are enjoying Pendragon's Banner and I'm sure hoping that I win that one because I LOVED the first book.

  3. Missy says:

Hey Dar: I hope that Buddy gets to feeling better soon. I myself am under the weather…I am losing my voice, as a matter of fact. I am hoping that it completely disappears so that I can go home early :) Heehee

I am close to finishing In A Perfect World by Laura Kasischke…I am enjoying it so far.

    Have a great afternoon!

  4. itsJUSTme-wendy says:

I wouldn't mind you just being a cheerleader, I loved the cheerleaders! I looked forward to reading them every time I went on.

Oh, poor Buddy. Bailey and I are sending a soothing belly rub and hopes that he'll feel better soon. And hugs to you, Dar. I know how worrisome it can be when Bailey is sick.

Sorry to see that Buddy's not feeling well again. Poor little guy. I don't know why, but I didn't realize Canadians celebrate Halloween.

Darcy and Sophie send their get well licks to Buddy! Hope he is feeling better this afternoon.

We have some sunshine for a couple days finally. They said 20 out of 25 days were rainy in october.

I've been listening to a chapter a day reading on the radio of "hotel on the corner of bitter and sweet" and really enjoying it.
They have a neat version of "i got it bad and that ain't good" music as they finish up daily which is fun.

    have a good evening!

  11. Diane says:

Hoping Buddy comes around and feels better soon. I know that will make you much happier as well.

  12. Ti says:

What is wrong with Buddy? I mean, I knew he wasn't feeling well but did they ever find out what the issue is?

  13. softdrink says:

You should definitely cheerlead in April…we'll have such fun!

    Hope Buddy is feeling better!

  14. Melody says:

Poor Buddy! I hope he gets well soon! And you take care too, Dar! :)

  15. Staci says:

    Dar,
I'm so sorry that Buddy has been feeling bad again. I wish they could talk!! Just know that I think of you daily and wishing you all of the best. Stay warm, read, be good to yourself, and smile!! :)

  16. Trish says:

Buddy–I hope you're feeling better soon! Your mommy has been so worried about you (as have we all!).

Dar–even 459 pages is great! I have a tough time dividing myself between reading and cheering and actually find that I prefer cheering (although I'd feel guilty not taking the opportunity to read something). I love coming by here and cheering you on (and you are too sweet). Maybe in April we can cheer together–I've already been coming up with new little rhymes for late in the evening. :) LOL!!

I hope you have a great week, sweetie.

  17. Bookfool says:

So sorry Buddy hasn't been feeling well. My Spooky is still fighting eye troubles and infection. Back to the vet, today. We're going in so frequently that they just save up my charges instead of billing me every time I walk in the door.

  18. carolsnotebook says:

I hope buddy starts feeling better soon.

  19. Amy says:

I hope Buddy is doing better. That's an adorable picture of him!

It sounds to me like you read quite a bit despite being distracted! Great job!

For some reason I didn't get as much reading done as I thought I would although I felt like I was reading for a while! But I didn't get to visit as many blogs as I would have liked to so I'm thinking of cheering next time. But I would also like to raise money for a charity. I'll have to see how I feel closer to April.

I hope you're doing okay Dar and that your Dad is feeling better.
    ~ Amy

  20. Thoughts of Joy says:

Hey, one book is better than no books! :) Well wishes being sent to Buddy.

  21. Serena says:

I just want to hug buddy. That is such a cute picture of him and he's such a cutie pie. I hope that he gets back to his old self again soon. I saw a glimpse of the old charlee yesterday when he was running around like a nut. He was in a good mood, which I guess meant the itchy skin was not bothering him as much…could be a good sign.

  22. Ivana says:

I still think you did a great job, considering you had other things on your mind. I was cheer-leading, but I didn't participate..maybe next year. Hugs to Buddy!

  23. avisannschild says:

I hope Buddy is feeling better!

  24. Lisa says:

Sorry to hear that Buddy has been feeling worse again. Hope this weekend finds him doing better.
