January 2010 Wrap Up

January 31st, 2010

Wow, the first wrap up post of 2010! The time is just flying by and while I don’t want the time to go any faster, I am, at least, glad it’s heading in the direction of spring. You wouldn’t know it today as it’s freezing outside though!

I only read 7 books in January. I’m not sure why it was such a slow month but it was. I hope to make up for it in February or I’ll have a hard time meeting my quota of over 100 books at the end of the year. So, here’s the January list of books read and reviewed:

  1. Spin by Catherine McKenzie (296 pages)
  2. Shanghai Girls by Lisa See (336 pages)
  3. Things Worth Remembering by Jackina Stark (320 pages)
  4. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld (448 pages)
  5. Alice I Have Been by Melanie Benjamin (368 pages)
  6. Pretties by Scott Westerfeld (384 pages)
  7. The Devil in Merrivale by Jackie Griffey (262 pages)

Well it’s hard to pick a favorite this month as I really liked most of them but if I had to pick my absolute favorites I’d have to say Shanghai Girls and Alice I Have Been.

How about you? How did your month go?

Darlene

I read 7, too, and that's really good for me. It seems that I read faster on my kindle.

I liked Shanghai Girls, too, but haven't tried your other favorite yet. It's going on my list.

You had a great January. I've read 2 of the books from your list Alice I Have Been and Shanghai Girls -both very good.

BTW…I don't think I mentioned this previously, but I like your new Blog design.

  9. Lauren says:

I always do bad when school is in session because I spend more time on that than I do on books. Which, if I could have it my way, I'd rather be pleasure reading, but you know how school goes…Anyway, I think I've only read three or four books. I finished 'The Cellist of Sarajevo,' started 'Plainsong' by Kent Haruf, read and finished 'Leaving Yesterday' by Kathryn Cushman, and am now working on 'Feeling For Bones' by Bethany Pierce. Definitely not one of my better months. But wait for summer. I will blow your mind with how many I can put away when I have free time! Lol. :D

Firstly, love the redecorating you have done. She has the cutest backgrounds. I adore those pin up chicks.

Only 7 books is still way better than me. I think I only read 3 and a half. One was 58something pages. Here's to a better February.

  16. Dorte H says:

Oh, what a gorgeous blog! It is just so beautiful and tasteful! I really love that.

I did quite well in January. I read ten books (plus two I put away because they did not appeal to me). I have only reviewed 8 in January, but it is also a pleasure to have a finished review ready for a busy day.

  17. Jennifer says:

I had a fabulous month! I managed to read 27 books, which truly was an endeavour I would rather not repeat.

  18. Ladytink_534 says:

I didn't do quite as well as I had hoped for January so I'm hoping February turns out to be better for me.

  19. carolsnotebook says:

Looks like you had a good month. I can't wait to read Alice.

  20. Toni says:

Great wrap up Dar.. at least four of those books are on my list. I am having some sort of reading mental block that I can't seem to shake. I have been knitting to compensate. Miss you.
