Friday Finds (June 18)

June 18th, 2010

Friday Finds hosted by Should Be Reading asks us to share what great books we heard about or discovered in the past week.

My pick this week is a new Nicholas Sparks book, Safe Haven, coming out September 14, 2010 from Grand Central Publishing. I can’t help it – I’m a Nicholas Sparks fan. I just love his books and how he tells a story always captures my heart in some way. Here’s a bit about the book from Fantastic Fiction

The #1 New York Times bestselling author tells the story of romance lost and rediscovered-and the wrenching decision one woman must make between loyalty and love.

Every person’s story has a beginning, middle and end, but the path that leads from one stage of life to the next is rarely predictable. Renee’s journey begins when she is a carefree college student, studying in Italy with her best friend, Audrey. During that idyllic summer abroad, Renee meets a handsome local, and falls deeply in love. But like all summer romances, the affair comes to an end when she returns to North Carolina. Back home, Renee fulfills everyone’s expectations – including her own – by marrying her longtime college boyfriend. Over the next two decades, she raises a family and lives a predictable, if in some ways unfulfilling life. When Audrey announces that she’s dying of cancer, Renee drops everything to spend Audrey’s last days by her side, unaware that her unconventional best friend still has a few surprises up her sleeve . . . surprises that will turn Renee’s world upside down, and offer her a chance to re-live the choices of her past in a way she never dreamed possible.

I can’t wait to read this one! It sounds so good. How about you? What did you find this week that captured your interest?

  14. Suzanne says:

Nicolas Sparks is usually a never fail read. This book sounds lovely. I will remember a box of tissues though when reading any of his books, because without fail I am usually balling my eyes out! Was not a good idea to listen to his latest audiobook while driving! :-)

  15. Lauren says:

I actually became a little skeptical of Sparks' books since I read The Rescue. I did not like it at all. The one thing I had started to appreciate about his books were that they added something more than your typical romance novel, and to me The Rescue just did everything any other romance novel would've done, and didn't impress me in the least. With that being sad, however, I would really like to read The Lucky One.
