Sunday Ramblings & Pics of Sammy/Flowers

July 3rd, 2011

Hi everyone, it seems like ages since I’ve posted although it’s only been a week. It’s amazing how fast a week goes by though even when you’re not feeling well. I am feeling much better now thankfully. I don’t think I’ve ever had a sore throat like that and I hope I never do again – it was awful! Now I’m so behind that I’m overwhelmed even thinking about it. I’m about 5 books behind now and we don’t even want to discuss the housework and stuff like that. I hope I can catch up on the book reading but it’s hard when I have others that are coming up that are scheduled. Oh well, I’ll do my best and that’s about it.

Otherwise not much has been happening. Our weather is finally warm to pretty much hot. I’ve found though that Sam isn’t too happy with the hot weather and he doesn’t like walking in it. He wants to go walking but once he gets out there and feels it’s hot, he’s not too thrilled. When we get home and in the gate, he lays down. I can’t believe how lazy this guy is – it’s almost funny but not really, especially at his size already – 22 lbs. I can definitely see him having a bit of a weight problem as he gets older. I have to mention too that he was a terror when I was sick. Aren’t pets supposed to sense when their owners are miserable and lay with them and be good? If they are, then Sammy missed that memo!
As for the blog this week, I have planned:
Monday - My birthday! And a book spotlight/giveaway of Never Knowing by Chevy Stevens

Tuesday - Review of Hello Goodbye by Emily Chenoweth
Wednesday - Interview/Giveaway with Emilie Richards, author of Sunset Bridge (this was supposed to have posted last week)
Thursday - Guest Post/Giveaway with Karin Slaughter, author of Fallen

Friday - Review of Anthropology of an American Girl by Hilary Thayer Hamann
Sheesh, I hope I can keep up to all that. I feel a little out of practice having missed a week and a half. LOL. I hope you’ll all pop by for all the fun next week!
To end today I’ll leave you with some pictures…

This basket of flowers is so pretty right now. I love the white ones – they are so pure and beautiful.

I love these purple ones. They are actually a lot deeper of a purple than you see here but the sun was shining really bright into the back yard when I took this. I’ll have to get another one when it’s less sunny back there.

I tried to get one of the garden but this one isn’t great. I’ll try from the back step next time. Anyhow the garden has really sprouted up in the last few weeks with all that rain. I hope to have some beans soon! As you can see we had to put the flower pots up on some pails because they are starting to fall over the sides and Sammy is a bit to happy to grab one in his lips if they’re in his way. LOL.

LOL. Sammy is ready for bed in this picture. He’s mad at me because I’m wasting time outside taking pictures and trying to get one of him too. Every time I pointed the camera at him, he took off in the other direction, the little bugger. This one is pretty good though. He’s due for another haircut.

Awwww mommy, aren’t we done with all this picture taking yet??? I’m tired and you know it’s hard being this cute all the time! How can’t you love a cute face like this!
That’s it for this week folks! I hope you’re all having a wonderful Sunday and enjoying family time or reading. I’d also like to wish you all a Happy 4th of July too!

I noticed you are a 4th of July baby! Happy Birthday a little early! I love the pictures of your flowers and your puppy. I think it is hilarious he hates the heat (I don't blame him). Does he like to swim? Maybe he needs a little wading pool to jump in when he gets back from his walks! I'm so glad you are feeling better. We don't have time for sickness!

I'll catch up at some point and I'm sure you will as well. Hope you have a wonderful week!

I'm so glad you're feeling better, Dar. I think Sammy sounds like a toddler, LOL. My dog doesn't like the heat and is just as happy to stay in the house. I love the petunia colors.

  9. TheBookGirl says:

So glad to see you back blogging Darlene; here's hoping that's the last sore throat you get for a good long while :)

Sammy sure is cute; my little guy doesn't like the sun either. When we walk he pulls me in all sorts of twisted ways to keep in the shade — I often think people watching us probably think I'm a bit tipsy or something, lol.

Happy Birthday a day early; looks like you'll have a busy week here. Don't worry too much about the housework – it'll all get done, and then it will have to be done again in a week again anyway :)

Oh, so glad to hear that the sore throat has finally abated! It stinks when you are sick and get so behind, and I can imagine that you are pretty stressed out by it too! Love the photos of the flowers. They are just beautiful, especially the white ones. And I can also see that Sammy is in top form again this week. Those pictures of him are adorable. Hope you have a great reading week and get all caught up!

  15. Charleydog says:

Your garden looks great, Darlene, and the annual flowers are lovely. Glad to hear that you are feeling better. As for pets sensing their owner's mood, I think that cats are better at that. At least they can use the litter box and not require a walk. Sammy is cute!

  16. jackie b central texas says:

Beautiful garden and flowers both Darlene, mister Sam better go on a diet and slim down a bit! Don't be beating yourself up about all the things you are behind on, they will still be waiting when your strength is up to the task of catching up!

Glad to hear that you're feeling better. Shame on Sammy for not taking care of you!! LOL!! That garden looks fantastic! and the flowers are gorgeous. Do what you can in regards to the reviews etc…I've been so lazy this past week. I've had 4 books finished but I just haven't felt like sitting down and writing my thoughts down about them. I'd rather be outside enjoying the beautiful weather and reading!!

Happy Birthday tomorrow..have a great one!!

  24. Sarah Jo says:

Beautiful garden and flowers, Flowers appeal to us in many different ways, whether as a field of wildflowers, a vase with freshly cut flowers, giant yellow sunflowers reaching toward the sky, or the heady fragrance of lilies on the night air. Flowers have the ability to welcome a new baby, offer congratulations on a job well done or mourn the loss of a loved one………..
