Sunday Ramblings & Sammy is Back!

February 5th, 2012

Yahoo!  It’s Sunday and I have prime spot right up here at the top just where I like to be!  Hi everyone!  I know you all come to see me.  Mommy thinks it’s because of her but I know better – who could resist all this cuteness?

Happy Sunday everybody!  How is the weekend going for everyone?  It’s been a beautiful one here weather wise.  It’s warm (for us) and sunny.  We really have been lucky this winter and I’m just hoping it lasts till spring.  It’s been really great for walking Sam and just generally a lot easier on the mood.  I haven’t really gotten much done this weekend, not even reading.  Well I did pretty much get my laundry done though and a little crocheting.  I’ve found crocheting is much easier on my hands so I’m going to do it for a while.  When I finally get anything accomplished I’ll post a picture.

As for reading I guess I’m doing ok but I really haven’t felt all that motivated to read this weekend.  I’m just starting Far from Here by Nicole Baart for review this week and it’s good so far.  I’ve got so many good books to read and I keep looking at them all and wishing I could get them all read.  Anyhow, up for this week is:

Monday – An audiobook giveaway of Home Front by Kristin Hannah
Tuesday – Review of Far from Here by Nicole Baart
Wednesday – a guest post & giveaway from Christine Blevins, author of The Turning of Anne Merrick
Thursday – Review of This Beautiful Life by Helen Schulman ( I hope-my review copy hasn’t arrived yet)
Friday – Book Spotlight & giveaway of Diary of a Mad Fat Girl by Stephanie McAfee
Saturday – Book Spotlight & giveaway of Dating the Undead by Gena Showalter and Jill Monroe
Sunday – a Valentine’s recipe and giveaway of Before She Dies by Mary Burton (sorry no Sammy this week and he’s none too happy about it either)

So, quite a busy week.  Actually it’s a busy month.  Every day is booked clear to the end of the month and into March.  I think I must be crazy sometimes to keep up this pace.  I wonder if you can get blog burnout.  lol.

Well, on to Sammy.  I’m trying to remember if he’s done anything especially crazy this week but nothing is coming to me.  One funny thing he did though I will tell you about.  The other day I finished feeding him and took him outside.  I went to plug in our outside lights and I look over at him and there’s this black thing that it looks like he’s trying to bury.  Of course I freak out thinking maybe he’s gotten a mouse or it’s a dead bird – anyway I’m mildly freaking out either way.  So I run over there at full tilt in the snow to find that my angelic Sammy has brought one of his sockies outside and is determined to bury it in the snow.  It was hilarious!

Sammy was also lucky enough to get his hair done this past week.  I wish I had gotten his face trimmed more and I will next time because with all this burying of socks his whiskers never stay very nice.  So I’m going to leave you with a few pictures of my Sammy Bear and I hope you all enjoy them…

Yes I had a haircut.  Yup, you’re right I was none too thrilled about it either.  They stuff me in this cage there so I bark the whole time.  The only thing is they are way better at ignoring me than my mommy is.

So, since I’m still a little ticked off with mommy for leaving me at the groomers I figure I should drive her extra crazy for a while.  Every time she sits down I pull at her socks and just for extra fun I nip at her toes too.  Serves her right!

Ok, even I have to admit I’m gorgeous!

That’s all for this week.  Be sure to let me know what you’re up to today and if anything exciting is going on in your world.  Oh, and what you’re reading.  I want to know if anyone is reading or listening to anything extra good.  For now, Sammy is sending out Sammy slurps to all his fans (especially Beth H).  Have a great week everyone!

Adorable! Absolutely adorable. Now I feel guilty. I’ve got to post some pics/vidoes of Copper on my blog! He’s my baby and I never really post anything for him. Hmm, will do soon …

I’m currently reading Linger by Maggie Stiefvater. I just finished Shiver, book one. After Linger, is Forever which is book 3. It’s a YA trilogy. I have to say I love it. People compare it to Twilight but I think it’s better (although the author wrote the books before Twilight was published – funny how authors have similar ideas). I couldn’t finish Twilight, unfortunately but this trilogy, I love. It’s not fast action-packed adventure but more of a slow romance. I still love that though and if that’s something you enjoy, you might like it too.

Melissa, you should post pics of Copper. He’s so beautiful and I’m sure he gets into a heap of mischief as well.

I have all the Stiefvater books- I just need time to get to them. I did like the Twilight books. I still have Breaking Dawn to get to though – I petered out by then. lol.

    Sammy looks so handsome!
I’m not anywhere near as busy as you are with blog reviews, etc. but I’m really enjoying Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman by J.B. Lynn.
Our weather is much like yours so I’ve been enjoying a daily walk while listening to The Rose Garden by Susanna Kearsley.
    Have a good week, Dar.

  3. Wait, you said the weather was gorgeous and then you said Sammy was trying to bury something in the snow. Snow and gorgeous weather don’t go together in my book! lol Sammy is a doll!!

  4. JoAnn says:

Sammy looks gorgeous with his new haircut and deserves to be back at the top! ;-) We’re still having an unbelievably mild winter… no complaints from me though. Have a great week!

  5. bookworm says:

oh my gosh, Sammy is darling!! :) Too funny that he buries the socks in the snow.
lol about blog burnout, yes it is possible.
We’ve had nice weather here too and have been lucky this winter was mild.
I’m in between a few reads myself including Lovesick, SEAL of my Dreams and GWTW.
    Enjoy your Sunday :)

    • admin says:

Naida, it was funny. I’ll have to watch him in the summer or he’ll be burying everything out there. I’m starting GWTW tonight! Send me an email if there is anything you want to talk about in between and I’ll do the same.

  6. He is adorable, yes! I’m so envious!

  7. Lisa says:

Sammy is looking mighty handsome with his haircut! Yes, Dar, you can totally get blogger burnout! I went through a period of it about a year ago and almost gave up on my blog altogether. I stopped posting every day after that and it was such a relief. Hope it doesn’t happen to you!

  8. Janel says:

What a cutie pie! Cooper turns into a different dog at the groomer. He hates if if I even try to brush him, but will let the groomers do anything. They always comment on how good he is!

    • admin says:

Janel, Sam doesn’t mind being groomed at home. When I mention a brushing he runs full tilt to his table and then lays there like a King while I brush him. Sam is thankfully good at the groomers too other than the barking. lol. We’ve got to catch up via email soon. I’ve been thinking of you a lot this last while and wondering how you are. I’ve gotten so bad with emailing. Sorry!

  9. blodeuedd says:

Lol, Sammy looks nice in his new haircut, even if he does not think so ;)

  10. Leslie says:

Sammy is just so cute. I love the way his eyes are following you around even while he’s pulling the sock or walking the other direction.

I think you are too organized for blogger burnout. I get blogger stress-out. I could write every day if I could find the time to do it, but I have so many other things I want to do too.

    • admin says:

Leslie, Sam does follow me with his eyes. He’s waiting to see how far he can push me before I say anything. lol. He’s just as bad as a kid.

Blogger stress-out is a good phrase. That’s exactly what I feel like.

  11. Beth Hoffman says:

I know you probably get tired of me saying this, but I am in love with Sammy! Every time I see him, I want to give him a squeeze.

Happy Sunday to you and little Sammy, Dar!

    • admin says:

Beth, I never get tired of hearing you say you love Sammy. I love that he brightens people’s days and hearts. You did see those special Sammy slurps for you at the end of the post, didn’t you? lol.

      • Beth Hoffman says:

Yes I did, and it made me smile and smile! And he’s so photogenic too! It’s like he poses because he knows we all love him! LOL

  12. Amy says:

Sammy looks especially fantastic in that last photo…I think he’s posing, that must be his best side! lol
I love Sammy’s weird sock obsession, so cute!

I’m glad your winter has been mild for the most part because I know that’s better for you, Dar.

Great book week…it’s going to be tough to get This Beautiful Life read and reviewed if you don;t get your copy asap! I’m looking forward to your thoughts about this book which sounds quite good.

Dar, enjoy the rest of your weekend!
    I’m reading Gillespie and I, it’s fantastic! I highly recommend it but it’s a long-ish book at 500 pages!

    • admin says:

Amy, he was waiting for toast in that last picture which is why he was standing so nice. Now I know what to do to bribe him for a picture. lol.

Yes the warmer weather is definitely easier on the joints. If we had winters like this all the time I’d love it.

I’ve never heard of Gillespie but I’m going to check it out. I like long-ish books. I’ve gotten almost halfway through Far from Here already and it’s really good!

  13. Nise' says:

Sammy is so handsome!! We are enjoying a mild winter here as well. Have a great week Dar.

    • admin says:

Nise, the warm weather seems to be everywhere. Quite the change from last year. I hope you have a great week as well.

  14. Staci@LifeintheThumb says:

He is gorgeous!! I love that he freaked you out! You should see what my dogs eat! Gross! Hope your week is awesome!!

  15. jennygirl says:

Sammy always takes the cutest pictures. I would have been freaking out too, if I saw my dog burying something. Sammy wants it in the Spring. Hope the weather holds out and have a fab week my friend.

  16. carla says:

Darcy and Sophie love to chew on the trimmings of the horse hooves. Sometimes they take them off and bury them for later.

Sammy is adorable as usual! He looks so very black in that last pic! Glad he is having fun!

Glad too that your weather has been nice. We just missed a good snow this weekend. Some of western Iowa 8 inches of snow, and as close as 25 miles away got 4 inches. We maybe got half inch. Temps are supposed to be in the mid 30′s this week.

Been reading the John Adams book by David McCullough. It has been interesting. Listened to The Pearl by John Steinbeck. Watched a couple movies, Hildalgo, and Adam’s Rib.

Hope you and Sammy have a great week!

    • admin says:

Carla, it’s odd how there can be so much snow so close by and yet it misses you. The same thing happens here all the time too. It’s supposed to be pretty chilly the next few days and I’m not looking forward to that. Enjoy your week!

  17. Sophia Rose says:

Good stuff coming up this week. Welcome back, Sammy!

  18. [...] been meaning to create a post dedicated to my editor-in-chief and since reading Darlene’s Sunday Ramblings & Sammy is Back, I felt like today would be a great day to do it.  Sundays are Copper days, the day of the week [...]

  19. sagustocox says:

I love that Sammy brought his sock outside to bury it in snow…AWESOME. Sounds like you had a great weekend and a good plan for the week.

  20. I love Sammy’s last pose! He is showing off his nice haircut! Such a character! He has the most gorgeous coat of fur! Winter has been mild here too which is a blessing! I sure am enjoying it!

  21. Linda Jacobs says:

Pictures of Sammy always make me smile! He’s such a ham. I don’t know how you read as much as you do. Amazing! I just read an older book, Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet and loved it. I used to crochet all the time and loved it so much more than knitting. Haven’t in awhile…hmmm…you’ve got me thinking…

    • admin says:

Linda J, I love that Sam makes everyone smile. Unless he’s getting in trouble he always makes me smile too. So did you bring out your crocheting materials? I haven’t gotten too far on mine yet. Lol.

  22. Jenners says:

Romeo says “hi Sammy” and he feels your pain with the haircut!! I see such a resemblence now between the two of them!! And talk about burying things in the yard — Mr. Romeo has started to do the same thing and then he digs them up and brings them in and they are all gross and dirty and it makes a big mess. Also, I’ve noticed that any Romeo post I do tends to get a ton of comments. I suspect that he has more fans than I do too!!!! : )

    • admin says:

Sammy says hi back to Romeo and says way to go on the burying stuff and bringing it back in. He seems to think that’s a great idea.

With Romeo getting older they are really starting to look the same. Their faces and coats. They are such beautiful dogs although quite bratty. Lol.

  23. Na S. says:

Sammy is always a cutie. I don’t have a pet of my own but I’ve always wanted a puppy or dog. So I sort of live the experience of a pet owner via blogs – it gives it a personal touch :)

    • admin says:

Na, pets are a joy but they are a lot work too. I have a neighbor who says the same as you – she just spoils Sam. Lol.

  24. Kaye says:

Sammy is so funny pulling on your socks! He wants you to play! Hope your week is going great, Dar.

    {{{hugs}}}

  25. Trish says:

I absolutely love that last picture of Sammy! He looks like he’s about to do something very mischievous! And I have to admit that reading through your list of the week and knowing that you have something every day through March gives me a bit of blogger burnout. ;) Think it’s just a case of me being easily overwhelmed these days. In theory I could post every day–at least something–but get overwhelmed by keeping it up. Yikes!!

Hope you have a good week (are having since it’s Wednesday) and that the weather stays warm for you!

  26. Samantha says:

Oh my goodness, you are going to be a VERY busy girl! I’m so glad to see some new pictures of Sammy..he is just too darn cute :) Hope that you are having a good week!

  27. Love to read about how you’re doing, and Sammy is getting sooo big!
Hope you’re having a week at least half as amazing as you are <3
