Today’s spotlight is on The Crooked Branch by Jeanine Cummins which just released on March 5. This novel sounds so good and I wish there were more of me so I could read more books! There are just too many good books out there and not enough time to read them. Thankfully though I can at least spotlight authors and their new books for all of you. My first book, A Rip in Heaven, A Memoir of Murder and Its Aftermath, was published in 2004, and was a surprise bestseller. Writing it was the hardest thing I’ve ever done (including giving birth twice), and I often wondered if I did the right thing, in writing it. But thousands of e-mails from comforted victims and homicide survivors have ultimately convinced me that, despite the pain involved, that book has done some good for people. The Outside Boy, published in 2010, was my first novel. And now The Crooked Branch is about to hit the shelves, and BESTSELLER LISTS EVERYWHERE. (For writers, maintaining a positive attitude and slightly distorted ego can be super-helpful!)

Must be terrible to give birth and not have the warm and fuzzzy feelings everybody talks about. Scary to think murder may run in the family.
