Happy Wednesday everyone! Only a few more days to the weekend now. Today I’m spotlighting Down and Out in Bugtussle: The Mad Fat Road to Happiness by Stephanie McAfee. First off I have to say I love this title and would pick it up in a bookstore based on that alone. The urge to know the story behind the title would be too intriguing for me to just walk by. This is the third and final book in the series with the other two being Diary of a Mad Fat Girl and Happily Ever Madder. These have been in my TBR pile for a while and I just picked up the first one on audio and can’t wait to listen. For today I’ll tell you a bit about the book and author and of course give you a chance to win your own copy at the end of the post!
ABOUT DOWN AND OUT IN BUGTUSSLE
When her dream life in Florida with her now-ex-fiancé goes south, so does Ace—she moves back home to Bugtussle, Mississippi, and into her late Gramma Jones little house. But even though her best friends, Lilly and Chloe, are thrilled that she’s returned home, not everything is smooth sailing. Ace wants her job back as art teacher at the high school, but the beautiful Cameron Becker has no plans to relinquish that position. Although Ace wants to run Miss Becker out of town, she accepts a job as a substitute teacher. On top of her job woes, Ace’s friends keep setting her up on blind dates when all she really wants is for people to stop meddling in her love life.
In her quest to find inner peace, Ace takes up gardening and discovers old love letters in her grandmother’s well-worn gardening book. With her faithful chiweenie, Buster Loo, by her side, Ace is determined to get to the bottom of her Gramma’s secret life, all while hoping her own doesn’t implode.
ABOUT STEPHANIE MCAFEE (from Stephanie’s website)
I was born and raised in Mississippi, graduated from Booneville High School and attended Northeast Mississippi Community College (where I changed my major about sixty times during the two years I was there). I also attended Mississippi State University and eventually granduated from Ole Miss with a B.A. in English. After that came a Master’s from the University of Alabama. So if nothing else, perhaps that explains my deep-seeded love for all things SEC, especially football.
